Non sense

Non sense is a game I play with my eleven year old grandson, Max. It consists of a duel between the two of us to see who can come up with the most interesting nonsense. We try out a totally meaningless sentence to one another to see who can come up with the. best ones. Such as:

Me: My kumquat rests inside an office cubical under the ocean, lying on a burgundy velvet couch munching on a banana.

Max: Your sox have taken a vacation while whittling a wooden key that opens the magic reindeer horns.

I could go on, but I’d rather you jump in and inspire me and Max to see if we can top you.

  1. My left big toe smashed my right thumb while doing Tai Chi in a hot air balloon.
The balloon pilot passed gas so the balloon would rise over the moon.
The moon shined bright through the windows of my canoe.
My canoe floated aimlessly down the Broadway Expressway not worried that tomorrow is coming.
Tomorrow showed up and knocked on my door, waking up the refrigerator’s ice maker.
The ice maker spit out lavender and sage, enraged that the coffee pot got turned on.
The coffee pot being turned on, left for Italy, the land of love, via the Pony Express.
The Pony Express stopped in Tipacanoe for a bikini wax, making the canoe miss his cousin Tipa.

    1. I like the way you decided to let the ending of one line suggest the next line. Lots of great objects here: a hot air balloon, the moon, a canoe, even tomorrow. I’m a big fan of nonsense as a way to stretch my brain. Looks like you are too.

  2. Nonsensentences:

I went..! Out! And din I crited, “I fell like I worked up this merging with barn drummage.
Nun off my worst seems to wanna come out crackly. Ducter what shut eye duh?”

He toll me I gut born dumage and I might of got sum sordid confection! So, I talled my ducker this is all cousin me a bick headcake. And he said, “Weaken cut that out for ewe!”

  3. There is real dialogue here, and I had to really slow down to let it sink in. Gotta see past my own barn drummage. What shut eye duh?

Very funny. You really dove into this one.

  4. Matches do not match when they come directly from the sardine can into the lightbulb. It never happens in the same way as when matches grow in loamy soil. When they do that, they jump higher than worms do when they move bricks into the ocean.
